Not always. Many matters resolve through negotiation, mediation or consent orders. Court is usually a last resort where agreement is not possible, or safety/urgency requires it. We’ll advise you on the most proportionate pathway.
What does “best interests of the child” mean?

How long does a property settlement take?
Timeframes vary depending on complexity, disclosure and cooperation. Some settle in weeks or months; others take longer, especially if court timetables are involved. We’ll provide a realistic plan and next steps early.
Can we formalise an agreement without a hearing?
Yes. If you reach agreement, you can usually apply for consent orders (or in some cases a financial agreement) to formalise it. We’ll advise on the best mechanism for your circumstances.
What if there is family violence?
